Make more of the solar power you already generate.
A geyserTECH+ controller connects solar panels to an existing electric geyser. For suitable homes and businesses, this can use the geyser’s existing element and thermostat—without roof-mounted hot-water tanks or extra plumbing.
- Designed around your existing geyser
- Solar PV energy used for daytime water heating
- Site assessment before the right system is selected
- Professional electrical installation and handover

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to replace my existing geyser?
No. In most installations, the GeyserTECH system connects directly to your existing electrical geyser. There is no need to replace the geyser, element or standard thermostat.
How does the solar water heating system work?
Solar panels generate electricity from sunlight. The GeyserTECH controller sends this solar power directly to your existing geyser element to heat your water.
Do I need special plumbing or pipes?
No. Unlike traditional solar water heating systems, the GeyserTECH system uses solar PV panels and connects electrically to your existing geyser. No additional water pipes or rooftop water tank are required.
Will I still have hot water when there is not enough sun?
Yes. The system can use your normal AC/grid electricity as a backup when required. The system can be configured so that solar does most of the heating while grid electricity is available at selected times for additional heating.
Can the system work completely off-grid?
Yes. GeyserTECH systems can also be configured to operate entirely from solar power without an AC/grid connection.
Does it work on cloudy days?
Yes, solar PV panels can still generate electricity when there is daylight, although their output will be lower during heavy cloud cover. Your grid backup can be used when there is not enough solar energy to heat the water to the required temperature.
Will this reduce my electricity bill?
Heating water is a significant part of household electricity consumption. By using energy from your solar panels to heat your geyser during the day, you can reduce the amount of grid electricity used for water heating. Actual savings will depend on your household’s hot-water usage, geyser size, system configuration and available sunlight.
How many solar panels will I need?
This depends on your geyser size, element size, available roof space and the GeyserTECH controller selected. CL Electrical can assess your requirements and recommend the correct system for your home.
Can I see and control how the system is performing?
Yes. Selected GeyserTECH systems can be paired with an optional digital touchscreen, with a WiFi version available for app-based monitoring and control.
What size geyser can the system work with?
GeyserTECH offers different controller options for different geyser sizes and element ratings. We will recommend the appropriate controller and solar panel configuration for your installation.
Do I need an existing home solar or inverter system?
No. The GeyserTECH solar panels can be dedicated specifically to heating your geyser, so you do not need an existing inverter or home solar system.
Is the system suitable for load shedding or power outages?
Because the system can heat your geyser directly from solar PV panels during daylight hours, it can continue using available solar energy without relying solely on grid electricity. The exact operation will depend on your system configuration.
Who installs the system?
CL Electrical provides professional installation of GeyserTECH solar water heating systems. We can assess your existing geyser, recommend the correct system and complete the electrical installation.
Is there a warranty?
Yes. GeyserTECH states that its controllers are manufactured in South Africa and carry a two-year manufacturer’s warranty.
How do I know which system is right for my home?
Contact CL Electrical and we can help determine the best option based on your geyser size, element rating, hot-water requirements and available space for solar panels.
